The fibers building here at SCAD has been in a complete frenzy this week! There is such a wonderful, chaotic energy that encompasses the atmosphere whenever Open Studio rolls around. One of my favorite pieces I had on display was my newest digital print titled Smooched Fruit. The digital printing class I am taking this quarter is the first time I am getting truly excited about pattern design and the bridge it can form between my photographic and fibers work. Not being able to eat so many foods because of my allergies (especially deserts), I find myself constantly taking pictures of food, seeing the beauty in what I can no longer ingest and being even more appreciative for what I still can. Smooched Fruit is comprised of photographs of cherry pie filling and raspberries that I took, as well as stamps created with the food itself.
