Human Impact

According to an article published in National Geographic from the summer of 2017, by Laura Parker, plastic takes more than 400 years to deteriorate, instead ending up scattered granules that take over oceans. In the form of a material study, this breakdown is sped up, stripping, cutting, and manipulating various plastic objects, weaving them on a floor loom into a new form. People are constantly taking nature for granted, accentuated through the top cyanotype layer of this project, a chemical process that requires exposure to natural sunlight to work.
